KANSAS CITY, MO (Nov. 7, 2013) – Tamba Hali, defensive end for the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs and CEO of Relamae Records, will host a star-studded event to celebrate his birthday and the launch of his record label on Saturday, Nov. 9th starting at 9 p.m. at Z Strike, located at 1370 Grand Boulevard in Kansas City. The event will also highlight the professional football player’s charity work in the local community, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Toys for Tots. Relamae Records artists Gillie Da Kid and StarrZ are slated to perform along with celebrity DJ Mannie Fresh.
The Kansas City Chief player recently joined the ranks of the top 10 players in the NFL with a fumble return touchdown and is in the league’s top 5 players with the most sacks this season. Hali attributes his success on the field to his undefeated teammates and coaching staff. “I’m happy to be apart of it. We’ve really turned it around with the coaching staff and how our guys approach the game. We don’t look past our opponent. We’re strictly focused on being 1-0 when we take the field. Our coaches do a great job of putting me in position to make plays,” notes the defensive end.
When not on the field defending his new quarterback Alex Smith, Hali spends most of his time in his $1 million home recording studio, laying down his own verses and developing his Relamae Records artists Philadelphia’s own Gillie Da Kidd and Baltimore newcomer StarrZ. “I’ve always been an artist of my own and I wish I could do it full time. So it made sense to start a label and put hungry artists in the forefront to help them create a brand, while having the opportunity to display my talents as well,” explains the CEO. Hali takes his music very seriously at the helm of his new company and is prepping StarrZ’ new project for release very soon and Gillie Da Kid’s new album in February. Hali’s creative rap talents were recently featured on Kansas City artist Steven Cooper’s record “Fast Lane.” He’s been in the studio working with the likes of Cassidy, Jim Jones and Gillie Da Kid, and producers Coney Girl, Rugged (Rick Ross, Meek Mill), Sonny Digital, Metro Boomin, Sap Da Beat Man and more. Hali plans to release some of his new music in the upcoming months.
“I don’t want to be confused with these other athletes turned rappers. I am better at rapping than most of the guys out there doing it. I don’t think those guys are passionate about rapping. I truly take it serious. [Music] is all I’m doing when I’m not playing [football]. Put me in the studio for one whole month in the off season, and you’ll see what I’m about,” respectfully says Hali.
While dominating on the field, Hali continues to build his music label off the field. The label head says he’s still adding talent to his roster and is looking for artists of all genres, not just Hip-Hop. The creative visionary is also working with a prominent radio station to bring a “Best Of” type live show to Kansas City that would pair celebrity artists together with local talent.
In addition to his star studded performances on the field, Tamba Hali is making waves in the booth!
