LOS ANGELES, CA (Nov. 12, 2013) — Filmcity Studios, the entertainment industry’s newest elite location for film shoots, music videos, photo shoots, events, performances and more, made its debut with an exclusive launch party on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. The much-anticipated event took place inside the state-of-the-art facility located at 7935 Alabama Avenue in Canoga Park. Since its soft opening several months ago, Filmcity has already worked with a slew of celebrity and corporate clients including Patton Oswalt, Darius McCrary, Omarion, Crazy Town, The Power Rangers, Sam Sarpong, Chace Johnson (Chace Infinite), Heffa Tuita and Wal-Mart.
Guests enjoyed music provided by DJ Starscream (Slipknot) and DJ Epic (Crazy Town), an open bar, complimentary cuisine, and took home keepsake composite photos shot by David Tucker of Le Tucker Photography. Special guests in attendance among the film producers, directors, executives and tastemakers included Donovan and Darius McCrary, Sam Sarpong, Alli Davis, The Poetess and Max Gousse. Filmcity is home to a 7,000 sq. ft. studio with a 100-ft cyc wall – one of the biggest in town – full grid and cyc lights, as well as a second 900 sq. ft. studio space that can be used as a lounge area or secondary stage. The facility is also outfitted with a top-of-the-line screening room, make-up room, editing bays, production office, full kitchen, VIP room with private bathroom and shower, and gated parking.
Owner and Creative Visionary Lior Cohen built Filmcity from the ground up…literally! The CEO fell in love with film production while visiting his good friend Flavor Flav on set of his 3-season VH1 series “The Flavor of Love.” He later dabbled in fashion, launching his own line “Hydro” that became one of the first to be featured on “The Flavor of Love” shows without being censored. While learning the ins and outs of production, Cohen formed valuable relationships in the entertainment industry. Earlier this year, he decided to pursue his dream and purchased the space in Canoga Park, transforming it from a distribution facility into a state-of-the-art production house, along with his father Eli. “This is really a dream come true. And the people I’ve met in this business are amazing. It’s fun around the clock,” Cohen says.
Cohen hopes to attract a network show to film every day at his studio, and plans to eventually expand and brand Filmcity Studios as a privately owned film studio with the means to create and financially back productions for film. Keep up with Filmcity Studios online atwww.filmcitystudios.com.
