LOS ANGELES, CA (July 16, 2012) – Canadian actor turned rapper J Star is wasting no time with the upcoming release of his second mixtape “Free Agent”. Riding the wave of a successful debut with last year’s effort dubbed “The Plane Is My Home: What Did You Expect?” J Star tapped rising celebrity producer DJ Mustard to host his newest body of work. Stirring anticipation with hit singles “Cash No Credit” and “Ignorant Sh*t,” J Star’s “Free Agent” project is guaranteed to satisfy loyal fans while attracting new ones. J Star released his newest video with Twista and Vado today, titled CLAP CLAP CLAP, fans are in for a treat when J Star drops visuals for “Cash No Credit” and “Real Recognize Real.”
The Canadian star stuck to strictly Hip Hop with the new version of his music after trying different styles of rap on his first mixtape effort. “Free Agent stands by itself. It’s a body of work I wanted to create to set myself apart from everyone else,” adds J Star. Boasting 11 songs and no features on the entire album, sans the bonus track produced by Boi1da titled “Clap Clap Clap” featuring VADO and TWISTA, J Star is re-introducing himself to the world, allowing fans a glimpse into his real life.
The title “Free Agent,” inspired by the term used in professional sports, mirrors J Star’s fearless, in your face approach to his music, sending a message that his talent will speak for itself. “Free Agent shows my fans what happens after I step off the plane. The sex, fun, hate and attitude of ‘I don’t give a f*ck, because the money is going to come regardless,” says J Star. The mixtape is comprised of “neck-breakers” meaning beats that bang, guaranteed to jolt his listeners.
“There’s something for everyone and everything on this mixtape,” J Star asserts. “My favorite track depends on the day, but ‘Cash No Credit’ is the song that gets me going in the morning. When I’m getting ready to go to the club, ‘Real Recognize Real,” “Party Til I Flatline,’ and ‘Shout Out to All My Haters,” slap in the car,” says the talented artist. Amidst the glitz and glamour on the project, a song called “Alladat” provides a snapshot into the more serious side of J Star’s life.
Featuring producers Boi1da, Johnny Juliano, Epik the Dawn and Drummer Box and hosted by “Rack City” producer DJ Mustard, “Free Agent” is slated to take the international music industry by storm, catapulting J Star back into the spotlight.
